My inspiration for this bust was the idea of "wearing your heart on your sleeve" and being open to love. However, if you put yourself out there, sometimes you can get hurt. I wanted to show the ways in which your heart can control you, your mind, your actions, and it can consume you- as seen with the artery going through the mouth. The cracks are there to emphasize the idea of heartbreak. I decided to make the majority of the bust using a stone colored paint to represent a play on words, stone cold and cold hearted, hence my idea for the title.
